An Evangelical Free Church of America Urban Intercultural Ministry In March of 2006 the former Pastor and founder of Christ Sent Fellowship Church (Pastor Paul Baker) was called to pastor another ministry. On an Easter Sunday Reverend Edward D. Harris was called and voted in by Christ Sent Fellowship Church membership in April of 2006 to become their new pastor. In May of 2006, because of a new ministry vision the church membership voted unanimously to establish New Christ Sent Fellowship Church as our new church/ministry; and in September of 2006 Reverend Edward D. Harris was installed as the Pastor of New Christ Sent Fellowship Church. Under the leadership of Pastor Harris, God had given us a clear vision for the church that focus on the redemption power found only in Jesus Christ that can be life-changing and life-saving. Our ministry focuses on equipping believers to move beyond their limitations and use their God given spiritual gifts, natural abilities and talents to reach their maximum potential in Jesus Christ. The scriptural foundation for New Christ Sent Fellowship Church mission in found in Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”. God has given our ministry the awesome responsibility to minister to the urban/ inner city by helping to restore hope to those who are lost. Our goal as we minister to the urban community is to help reform the lives of people who have been rejected and forgotten, to teach the truth of who we are in Jesus Christ. Our ministry vision is “Turning People to the POWER In Christ”; we believe that through Prayer, Outreach, Worship, Evangelism, and Relationship we can reach, teach and equip believers to trust in the Gospel message of HOPE for a better tomorrow. While trusting and waiting on God, many outreach ministries were born; several ministries were developed to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the urban community. In 2007, the Lord led us to continue outreach as well as in-reach ministries to men and women; we later established our music/dance, hospitality, youth and children’s ministries.Because of our faithful service and obedience to God’s will on October 18, 2007 New Christ Sent Fellowship Church received full status membership as a recognized church in the Evangelical Free Churches of America. At the start of 2008 our ministry outreach continued to expand by adding the Women’s ministry mercy clothing store for men, women, and children; at the end of 2008 our ministry went through transition and as a church family we had to trust in the direction that the Lord was moving us as a ministry; and we did! In March of 2009 we launched our ministry website to expand our ministry outreach outside of our community into the world. In February of 2009 we added two new ministries to the church, our marriage ministry and singles ministry. We also re-developed our Christian education program (youth and children’s ministry) to equip youth and children to be totally submitted to Lordship of Jesus Christ and God’s perfect will for our lives. Under the direction of Lady Sheli Harris our women’s ministry in March of 2009 started a women’s fitness fellowship called “Walking in the Spirit”. In May of 2009 the men’s ministry started the Men/Young men’s Basketball Fellowship to reach the youth in our church and community. In the beginning of 2010 the Lord had lead us to change the name of our ministry from New Christ Sent Fellowship Church to Christ Power Church & Ministries. On January 7, 2010 through prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit, at our churches first annual church-wide business meeting the church voted unanimously to change our name to Christ Power Church & Ministry. We have witnessed God do some amazing things in our years of serving in ministry and we will continue to trust God as He directs our path in the future. To God Be All The Glory!!!!!!!!!!!!!
